Experience

Culinary Intern
I interned with two separate companies during my final semester to gain more experience working hands-on with food - one with a private chef and the other with a culinary dietitian. From my time working with these two companies, I learned various back-of-house and food-service-specific responsibilities such as:
- Meal procurement, prep, plating, and menu development
- Maintaining precise attention to detail and communication to ensure consistent quality
- Contributing to guest experience through abundant hospitality

Server
My time working in restaurants has taught me many lessons about the food industry, food safety, customer safety, and endless practical skills such as teamwork and collaboration, leadership and advocacy, patience and empathy, and learning to be adaptable. Through waiting tables, I:
- Provided informed service using knowledge of ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods
- Delivered high-quality guest service in a fast-paced environment
- Supported food safety standards

Teaching Assistant
In addition to my schoolwork, I served as a TA for two courses - Nutrition in the Lifespan and Nutrition and Wellness. During this time, I took on new responsibilities that allowed me to dive deeper into curriculum, foster new relationships with students and professors, and gain a stronger understanding of current and evolving information. I collaborated with professors, assisted with grading, and provided educational resources to promote educational development for students.
